Frequently Asked Questions
What is Shela Quest Foundation and when was it founded?
Shela Quest Foundation is a registered Nigerian non-governmental organization founded in 2017 by a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in Lagos. We are dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty by providing underprivileged children with quality education, examination scholarships (WAEC, NECO, JAMB), and vocational skills.
How are scholarship beneficiaries selected?
We collaborate directly with public secondary school principals, guidance counselors, and community leaders across Lagos. Beneficiaries are selected based on verified academic diligence, demonstrated financial vulnerability, and risk of dropout due to unpaid registration fees.
How will my donation be used and is it transparent?
Our Transparency page shows confirmed donations after refunds and disputed amounts, and paid expenses recorded in our spending ledger. Spending shares are calculated from those expenses separately for each currency. Pending pledges and scholarship awards are not counted as payments. Reports are published when their files are uploaded; the recorded figures are not a complete historical account or an audited statement.
How can I volunteer with Shela Quest Foundation?
We welcome volunteers with open arms! You can apply directly through our Volunteer portal as an academic tutor, youth mentor, creative photographer, or event organizer. NYSC corps members and professionals are strongly encouraged to join.
